Executive Chef: Sameer Taneja
Sameer Taneja first joined the team as Head Chef from 2012 until 2015 and returned to Benares as Executive Chef in the summer of 2019 regaining a Michelin Star for the restaurant in 2021 and retaining it in 2022 and 2023.
He introduced new menus based on simple, clean and precise cooking, using impeccably sourced British ingredients in dishes that are grounded in tradition but create excitement on the plate.
His culinary style is entirely produce-led pairing Indian cuisine with classical French techniques learned from his 20 years of experience working with some of the world’s best chefs.
Mukesh Pandey - Assistant General Manager
A dedicated and passionate hospitality professional, Mukesh Pandey brings a wealth of knowledge to his role at Benares, since joining the restaurant in 2007. Always ready with a warm welcome for guests, he is responsible for maintaining the exceptionally high standards of the restaurant and ensuring the best customer experience.
Jeepson Lopes - Wine Buyer and Assistant General Manager
Jeepson joined the team in 2008 and has risen through the ranks on both the wine and management side of the business. He is responsible for managing and curating the 400+ strong wine list, showcasing the finest selection of Old and New World wines. Lopes meticulously hand-picks every bottle to perfectly complement the intricate spicing, rich sauces and delicate heat of the dishes.
