Executive Chef: Sameer Taneja
Sameer Taneja is Executive Chef at Benares, London’s trail blazing Michelin-starred Indian restaurant in Mayfair. Using his classical training in French and Indian cuisine and 20 years’ experience working alongside some of the world’s best chefs, Sameer’s culinary style pairs high quality British ingredients with authentic Indian spices and techniques.
Sameer first joined the Benares Team in 2010 for six years and re-joined the restaurant in 2019. Under the leadership of Sameer, Benares regained its Michelin star in 2021.
Mukesh Pandey - Assistant General Manager
A dedicated and passionate hospitality professional, Mukesh Pandey brings a wealth of knowledge to his role at Benares, since joining the restaurant in 2007. Always ready with a warm welcome for guests, he is responsible for maintaining the exceptionally high standards of the restaurant and ensuring the best customer experience.
Jeepson Lopes - Wine Buyer and Assistant General Manager
Jeepson joined the team in 2008 and has risen through the ranks on both the wine and management side of the business. He is responsible for managing and curating the 400+ strong wine list, showcasing the finest selection of Old and New World wines. Lopes meticulously hand-picks every bottle to perfectly complement the intricate spicing, rich sauces and delicate heat of the dishes. Look out for his frequent in-house tasting sessions and exclusive masterclasses.

Elroy Pereira is Head Pastry Chef and has been instrumental in leading our pastry kitchen since 2013. Elroy ensures the smooth running of the pastry section championing the very best British ingredients with authentic Indian spices and techniques.
Filip Viorel - Head Sommelier
Filip has been an integral part of the team for six years and is responsible for managing all aspects of the wine program at Benares. From researching new trends and networking with suppliers to inventory control and staff training, his impressive knowledge and expertise ensures a constantly evolving wine list and impeccable customer service.
