Executive Chef: Sameer Taneja
Sameer Taneja first joined the team as Head Chef from 2012 until 2015 and returned to Benares as Executive Chef in the summer of 2019 regaining a Michelin Star for the restaurant in 2021 and retaining it in 2022 and 2023.
He introduced new menus based on simple, clean and precise cooking, using impeccably sourced British ingredients in dishes that are grounded in tradition but create excitement on the plate.
His culinary style is entirely produce-led pairing Indian cuisine with classical French techniques learned from his 20 years of experience working with some of the world’s best chefs.
Mukesh Pandey - General Manager
A dedicated and passionate hospitality professional, Mukesh Pandey brings a wealth of knowledge to his role at Benares, since joining the restaurant in 2007. Always ready with a warm welcome for guests, he is responsible for maintaining the exceptionally high standards of the restaurant and ensuring the best customer experience.
Viorel Filip - Wine Buyer
Viorel, a seasoned hospitality professional with over two decades of experience, has dedicated half of his career to the wine industry. Starting as a Junior Sommelier at Benares, his hard work and dedication led him to the position of Wine Buyer. He curates a 400+ wine list, meticulously pairing selections with Indian cuisine. His dedication to excellence and innovation guarantees exceptional guest experiences.
Elroy Pereira - Head Pastry Chef
Elroy Pereira is Head Pastry Chef and has been instrumental in leading our pastry kitchen since 2013. Elroy ensures the smooth running of the pastry section championing the very best British ingredients with authentic Indian spices and techniques.
