Celebrating Diwali at Benares Restaurant
This October, Benares Restaurant welcomes guests in honour of Diwali, the Indian Festival Of Lights.
For the entire Diwali month (1-31st October), Michelin star Chef Atul Kochhar is celebrating Diwali with an unforgettable tasting menu that marries his own cultural traditions with the finest seasonal ingredients the UK has to offer. Expect exquisite ingredients cooked stunningly well.
Known as the “festival of lights”, Diwali is a riot of colours, flavours and spices, and traditional sweets and snacks known as mithai. Mithai are centric to Diwali and one of the most common kinds of food served throughout the day, on their own or with a cup of masala chai.
This year, at Benares, Diwali will be celebrated for the full month, with beautiful floating candles, Marigold flowers, and six courses of tempting Michelin star dishes from our Diwali Tasting Menu. The menu will feature classics such as chargrilled Scottish salmon in creamy coconut and curry leaf sauce, tandoori paneer with mint chutney and a twist on the traditional bhapa doi – a sweet yoghurt pudding from India.
We will be offering a special Diwali Street Food Menu available in the bar area only.
There are several veggie options, and our guests who dine with us on Diwali Day (19th October) will be given a special box of mithai to take home.
